To our teachers, school partners, and supporters:

Across California, in every community we support, we recognize that many of our families and students are navigating an enormous amount of uncertainty. Educators are the first to witness the impact in the classroom.  Many of our teachers may be feeling unsure of how to proceed in this new environment, with new challenges to education coming each day.

While the future holds uncertainties, one thing remains constant: SEAL is with you. The work you do is essential in shaping safe, joyful and rigorous learning spaces for every student and we are committed to supporting you every step of the way.

Our commitment remains the same:  to ensure educators and schools have the expertise and resources to create language-rich, inclusive classrooms where every student can learn, thrive, and lead. SEAL’s evidence-based strategies and online resources provide practical, responsive approaches that educators can use today and every day to support their multilingual learners and all students, while building strong family-school partnerships with confidence.

At SEAL, our dedication to multilingual learners doesn’t stop in the classroom. We advocate at every level - through strategic partnerships, and targeted policy initiatives, we work alongside educators and policymakers to shape asset-based equitable futures for all California students. We are working alongside our partners to develop and share resources that offer guidance and practical support for teachers and families. California has strong protections for students, and we are collaborating with partners statewide to ensure  families, students, schools and educators have the tools they need.

Please visit www.SEAL.org news page for timely updates, valuable resources and guidance to support you and your students. And please, never hesitate to reach out with questions. We are here to support you however we can.

Schools should always be places of learning, belonging and opportunity - not fear. We stand with you, and together, we will continue building safe and thriving learning spaces for all students.

Sincerely,

Anya Hurwitz
