With 32 years of experience in education, Karen specializes in early learning instruction and administration. At Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), she made significant contributions as a Head Start Education Manager, spearheading the development of the early learning leadership pipeline, overseeing the dual immersion preschool classroom, and serving as a SEAL coach. Karen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Child Development Program Director Permit, and a CTE Credential in Education, Child Development, and Family Services. As an English learner who moved to the U.S. at seven, she is deeply committed to supporting dual language learners and their families. Karen is passionate about collaborating with educators and school leaders to align and build on practices across grade levels, ensuring equitable access to education, and enhancing students' social and academic development within an asset-based and affirming environment.
