Can (John) Ali Kilic has spent the last ten years working with various non-profit organizations across the Bay Area focused on improving education systems. As a Graduate researcher, he explored the relationship between Executive Function and Early Math development across international cultures and languages. He also worked abroad in Chengdu, China, administering Socio-emotional curriculum to Chinese children in Montessori schools. As a California Pre-Doctoral Scholar at UCLA, Can studied number talk between children and parents, exploring how home conversations influence early number acquisition. Growing up as an English language learner, he is now focused on improving learning outcomes for children from multilingual and multicultural backgrounds.
