What is the Bilingual Teacher Professional Development Program (BTPDP)?
BTPDP is a state-supported initiative led by SEAL to recruit, train, and retain qualified bilingual teachers. It offers financial assistance, personalized coaching, and a supportive educator community, all designed to enhance bilingual education in California’s classrooms.
Who is eligible for BTPDP?
Elementary and Secondary Teachers with a California Clear Credential or CLAD, as well as school and district leaders looking to expand bilingual teaching capacity in their schools. This includes:
- Credentialed teachers or credentialed education specialist
- Paraprofessionals
- School and district leaders looking to expand bilingual teaching capacity in their schools.
What does BTPDP offer?
Participants receive funding for credential-related costs, individualized guidance (including test prep and mentoring), and access to a broader network of bilingual educators and administrators.
What is the time commitment?
The timeline varies by participant, but typically includes a combination of online coursework, coaching sessions, and community-building activities—designed to fit around a full-time teaching schedule.
