Ulises joined the SEAL team in January 2023 and is a first generation immigrant who was born in Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan, Mexico, which is where he completed most of his schooling. Ulises is a bilingual English/Spanish educator and school administrator with over 19 years of experience in elementary and secondary levels. He earned his BA in Elementary Education and a MA Degree in Multicultural Education in Mexico. In addition, Ulises obtained a second Master of Arts degree in Education, Administration and Supervision with an emphasis in Social Justice and Equity from San Jose State University. Ulises’ first years as a teacher/principal were in a rural school up in the mountains of Michoacan, Mexico. His last administrative role was as a TK-6 school principal at Creekside Elementary for the Alisal Union School District. Ulises had the opportunity and pleasure of participating in the Migrant Binational Program on two occasions, and being a Binational Teacher of the Mexico-USA Exchange Program for three years. Throughout Ulises’ educational career, he has been a teacher, an instructional coach, an assistant principal, and a school principal (TK-6, and 7-8). Ulises is excited to embrace SEAL’s vision towards students’ academic and emotional success as he also considers that building positive relationships with students, parents, fellow teachers, and co-administrators is the foundation to his personal and professional journey. Ulises’ goal is to combine his range of experience as an educator, as an instructional coach, as a binational teacher and TK-8 educational leader, with his ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, and transformational person who will make a positive contribution to SEAL, its staff, and most importantly, our students, parents, and community.
